EU4 was put on backbone way before the change of leadership, most likely shifting developers to Imperator because of its lackluster launch. While it slowed down development, Emperor was in many ways similar in its current state as it was back then, with some improvements being added, like marines and some other changes.īut last year around the same time, it was already revealed that Papacy, HRE, all current country mission trees and the map were pretty much solid. The change in leadership is not a discussion. Jimeni is even more powerful in many ways and the power of jimeni being created for Crusader Kings 3, led to Johan using it to create Imperator. Yeah, they use Clausewitz, but the modules on top show you the difference. HOI4 is so much better in accessability and added things that Eu4 simply lacks. The game engine might be the same for HOi4 and Stellaris, but boy do you know half of the difference between them.

Im a developer and modder for my own games and mods for EU4. Last but not least more vassal interactions.Īnd you dont know half of what you are talking about. It‘s just too disappointing that you can form the Roman Empire, and that even as Fetishist you‘ve got all that fleshed out mechanics, but nothing for Judaism. I‘d like to see Judaism get a rework and Israel being implemented too. This would encourage the spirit of the nation to play consistently, because right now it’s too easy to betray allies, and play off all of your neighbours against each other.Īnd, in general, less click-farming, instead more ways to adjust stuff. Once gained, it would be difficult yet not impossible to remove those modifiers. I‘m thinking of expanding permanent modifiers such as historical rivalry/friendship, maybe by adding „notorious traders“ for tags that have generated x amount of their income from trade for at least x years, or „warmonger“ for tags that waged x offensive wars in x years, or so. It would also be nice if player’s actions had some permanent effects on the tag. In addition to that, tags in colonial or trade centre regions should get corresponding mechanics when expanding oversea just like European tags get them in form of colonies and TC, so that internal management won‘t get too tedious.Īrmy automation like in IR is a must have mechanic that I expect, even demand, to be implemented. I‘d like to see the exploration and colonisation mechanics reworked, adding more details and actual event chains. Victoria 2 is a very different experience (which is a good thing imo) and I don’t love the pops in imperator, although to be honest I haven’t played enough to form a clear opinion. I guess the unknown of how that might be in a new game makes me wary of a major overhaul into EU V. Is the idea that it would allow a richer and more diverse representation of internal society? If so does this depend on events and other new mechanics fitting around that? Might that change the whole feel to something quite different to EUIV? Or alternatively, end up half baked? Also, is there a clear consensus around how those pops should be implemented or is there a risk that if they were added, lots would be unhappy with the result? I am not against the idea at all but, well, could someone explain briefly how it would improve the game? More internal/peacetime management is something which I’d love to see, but are pops the only and best way to do this? Apologies if this seems obvious. The idea of “pops” in EU IV/V seems to have a lot of supporters. The below is absolutely not intended to make a point, but is intended as an open question. That said, an overhaul to allow more of a focus on building your economy in a more detailed way in peacetime would be nice.

I’d hope that EU IV will carry on a while yet.
